How to hang metal wall art
Metal wall art can be a fun way to add character to your home. It’s also a great option if you’re looking for something that won’t take up much space but will make a big impact. But if you’re just getting started with hanging art, it can be difficult to figure out where to begin.
In this guide, we’ll show you some helpful tips how to hang metal wall art in your home. We’ll also cover basic safety measures so you can avoid getting injured while working with these beautiful pieces.
1. Finding the perfect spot for your metal wall art
Before you start hanging your piece, you need to figure out where you’ll place it. Do you want to hang it on the wall? Do you want to attach it to a piece of trim, or do you want to attach it to the ceiling with ceiling hooks?
You’ll want to make sure that the center of your artwork is in line with your room’s main focal point. For example, if you have a big window in your living room, you may want to place your artwork in the corner of that window so that it frames the view outside. Or, if you want to create a statement in your dining room, you may choose to hang your artwork in the center of that room’s table.
Once you’ve chosen the perfect spot for your steel art, measure your wall space. You can use the tape measure or a straightedge ruler, but be sure to get the measurement exactly right.
2. Gather Tools to hang metal wall art
To hang the artwork, you don't need any special tools, you’ll only need a pencil, masking tape, plugs, power drill, drywall anchors and screws or nails and a hammer to attach it to your wall. Most of our designs have already pre-drilled holes in the metal wall art signs. This makes it easier to hang your piece straight on the wall. However, if your sign has a design that does not have pre-drilled holes, you can always drill them yourself.
3. Masking tape hack for hanging metal art
Simply attach a piece of masking tape to the wall roughly where your pencil marks will go, then mark the tape instead of the wall.
That way you can drill holes into the wall through the tape and when you remove it, you’ll be left with a tidy hole and no excess pencil marks. Also you will not touch the actual metal wall art while you are drilling, this prevents the metal and thus the coating from being damaged.
4. How to hang metal wall art with no nails or hooks
Does your metal wall art comes without pre-drilled holes? Or you just don't want to deal with the sight of screw or nails? Than you can use our screws with high powerd magnets. These magnets are simple to install and easy to hide behind your sign. All you have to do is screw the magnets into your wall at your desired locations. Place the metal sign on top to cover up any part of the magnet. With no hanging hardware actually showing, your sign will look its best! These high powered magnets will hold any of our signs up to and including the 23.5" size.
Want to avoid drilling? 12" and 14" metal art also can be hanged with command strips or double sided tape. So it is very easy to hang your customized stunning piece on your walls.
Hanging a large piece on your wall requires some wall anchors because of their weight. A metal art piece larger than 23.5" is not suitable for hanging without using screws or other mounting hardware.
5. Attach the wall art to your wall
Once you have gathered all your tools, you are ready to attach the artwork to your wall. Now that you have hung your metal wall art on your wall, you can enjoy it for years to come. Don’t forget to clean it off occasionally. You can use a wet rag or sponge to clean it. Use a damp cloth to clean the metal wall art signs.
